This is most of the playlist from last night... towards the end of the show I was so exhausted that I never got to write down the last few songs... Also we were scheduled to conduct an interview with Andrew WK which now has been rescheduled for March 8th.
After 8 hours of sleep I feel much more refreshed now.

Playlist 2-15-10 part 2
I can't figure out how to edit Mike's post, so I'll just put (what I can remember of) the rest of the playlist in this post. Bear in mind that these songs were played AFTER the AWK song on his list, even though you will likely read this post BEFORE you read that one. I know it's a little bit confusing, but really...expand your mind you square.
Harrappian Night Recordings - Mumbai Item Number
Harrappian Night Recordings - Scarecrow
(I think both of these were talked over...a talkover that I have to say Pat Carlone commented on...saying that Mike and I sounded like a couple of old women knitting or something)
White Flag - Untitled

Winter Coffin - Forest of Blitzkrieg (Jay Reatard Black Metal?)
Blessure Grave - Making the Death Beds
Francis Harold and the Holograms - Two Faggots One Cunt
Liturgy - Untitled
Liturgy - Pagan Dawn
Venus Gang - Love to Fly
Venus Gang - Dies Irae (ecclesiastic disco)
Venus Gang - Take Me Back to My Planet
Venus Gang - Cosmic Daddy
Alexander Tucker and the Decomposed Orchestra - Algae Age
Volcano Choir - Mbira In the Morass
William Fowler Collins - Grave Robbing in Texas
Ø - Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun
Morte Macabre - Quiet Drops
there may have been more, but it was late and you weren't listening anyhow. Also, now that I look at this, I think I logged everything backwards. In any case, its the band name first and the song title (or lack thereof) second.
Thanks...Tune in for the AWK interview on Monday.
Edit: I added these songs into the "part 1" to make it a full playlist... - Mike

Last night's show was good... That is, if you consider listening to all 8 and a half minutes of "We Are The World 25" followed by 15 minutes of commentary about the song from the show's 2 DJ's.. if you would consider that "good" then I guess it was good.
There were some radio debuts from lesser-known local artists Don't Panic and Lowt Ide, and we discussed our forthcoming phone interview with Andrew WK, who hopefully will be calling into next week's show!!!!
We Are The World 25 For Haiti "We Are The World 25"
Don't Panic "Letter From The Government"
Lowt Ide "Little Kid's Bike"
Lowt Ide "Golf (Boyz II Men Molested Me In My Treehouse)"
Lowt Ide "Metal #1"

Coming soon on late night noise....
The show has been developing nicely as of late, and in an effort to raise awareness about Late Night Noise, we're working on getting some very special guests to join us on the show... I sent out some emails tonight just to see what happens. And we did receive one response...
There is one guest specifically that may be joining us soon.. Can't give away too many details right now, because nothing's definite or been 100% solidified, but he is someone who has lately been discussed very often on our show (almost weekly), and he is someone who has apparently been shrouded in mystery.. A mystery that we will hopefully be able to unveil first hand in a future edition of Late Night Noise. Once again, nothing is for certain just yet, but this could potentially be huge for us... Fingers are crossed. We don't wanna give away too much though....

Are we allowed to write about this?
We're not supposed to discuss anything negative about WXCI over the air, and this isn't exactly a negative thing, but I can't help but feel targeted lately, and nobody reads this anyway, so I may as well just throw something about this over here...
The DJ's of this show have recently been reprimanded by some members of WXCI's executive board for describing the 3rd category of music that gets played on our show as "terrible music." (See the "What's It?" section listed on the right side of this blog...)
Although experimental and noise take up over 90% of what we play on this show, "terrible" music still seems to fit our format, because when it gets bad enough, you really need to hear it to believe it.. The same can be said for much of the experimental and noise stuff that we play. In this respect, it fits our format, and we're not going to stop (occasionally) playing songs that are, for lack of a better word, "terrible."
The way that it was initially described to me made it seem as though we could use other words instead.. For example, VH1 has done specials where they've counted down their favorite "awesomely bad" songs, which is cuter and more advertising-friendly way of saying "the worst songs of alltime." But that's the thing.. WXCI is non-profit. We have no advertisers to please. We should be allowed to say whatever we want (as long as we're following FCC guidelines.. no calls to action, no prices, no f-bombs.. If we were playing a type of music that could only be described as "eat a fucking Big Mac for a dollar ninety-nine," that could be a giant problem..)
It's been suggested to me in the past that it's supposed to be a bad thing to play a song over the air, and then immediately afterward say "that really sucked," or "that was terrible," because it sounds unprofessional to say that over the air. However, doing exactly that has now become a part of Late Night Noise... We're not trying to piss anyone off.. But there's some music out there which is so outstandingly terrible, that it becomes compelling, thus generating merit that allows it to become eligible for airplay. In addition to this, whenever we play "terrible" or "awesomely bad" music, we're usually commenting over the song anyway, or talking over the song as it's playing..
A lot of the videos we post here are those types of videos.. 2 Skinnee J's was the first video ever posted here. Just terrible... More recently, we posted the Scott Weiland/Perry Ferrell/Bono/Fred Durst 9/11-tribute cover of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On," which is the type of music that completely fits our third category. It's one of the worst things I've ever imagined could be created by people who actually get paid millions of dollars to make music.
We're just trying to put on a good radio show. And we think terrible music is funny. And so it shall stay.

the "coffin" video
A friend of mine taped this off public access many years ago.. Ever since, we've been trying to figure out what the name of the band is. I think it's one of funniest videos I've ever seen.
