Hey I haven't been there for like a week, and Mike has excusably run some reruns of stellar shows. I hope all you listeners don't mind too terribly. In any case I wanted to check in with some stuff I think is important that I would be talking about if I was there this week or last week or whatever. Plus I just got a shitload of new stuff for next week, since I've had access to a super fast wireless network for the past few days (hours)
Anyway, without any further ado...
Trent Reznor has a new "band" with his wife whose name I can't remember and who is referenced by her band that we (I) haven't heard of. It's called How to Destroy Angels, they have a great logo that I can't find a picture of right now, and are named after a Coil song or album. I wonder if Trent does his own graphic design. The NIN logo is an enduring classic. I had the sticker on my car in high school.
Anyhow, there's some wierd short videos on the site, and you can download the first single for like a buck too. I think I listened to it and I think it was cool. Not incredibly noisy but still rad and wierd for sure. Wierd like my inability to spell wierd.
Part 2
M. Gira of Swans announced a reunion awhile ago I guess, I didn't hear about it. Anyway, that's happening and they are mixing a new album. Awesome! Also they are playing dates in NYC (one at the Masonic Temple, a rad venue) in the fall I think.
Section C
Go check out noise shows in new haven at Popeyes Garage. Search it on the internet.
There's probably other stuff to talk about but the mountain air has gotten to me and I just can't remember it. Stuff I've been listening to includes
Swirlies - Strictly East Coast Sneaky Flute Music
Twin Stumps - Seedbed
Ringo Deathstarr - Sparkler
Blessure Grave - In the first place
Eternal Tapestry - Invisible Landscape
Woods - at echo lake
Wilco - A.M.
Mclusky - Mcluskyism
Built to Spill - Live
and a bunch of other crap since I just drove across the stupid country. plus I was staying with my buddy Steve and he's sort of a hippy who lives in the mountains and was driving me around in his Honda Box Car with XM RADIO that he keeps tuned to the acoustic station, so I heard like a hundred sheryl crow songs and one cover of American Girl by like Carly Simon or Stevie Nix or some shit.
Anyway, tune in next week. I leave you with this. I want to remain apolitical as a radio show, but check out this awesome political ad.
And while I'm on the subject, even though this other dude is running for congress in Idaho, what matters is that he was born and raised in WATERBURY CT!!!!! What in fuck!!!
