playlist 12-6-10

this is so unfair... just got home from a lovely evening of Late Night Noise, and THIS is the first thing I get to hear...

Now we have to wait a whole week to play this over the air. UNFAIR... I can't take the suspense. Speaking of suspense, next week's Late Night Noise might be on later than usual to make room for the "2010 Mixtape." I did not get a chance to speak with the DJ's who are on before me so it might be starting as early as 7PM (or earlier) or it could be starting as late as 10PM, which would be a bummer, but whatever..

So here's this week's playlist...

Blackout Band "Video Games"
Syphilitic Vaginas "Under Satan's Command"
Ween "Awesome Sound"
Kool Keith "Livin' Astro"
Andrew WK "Not Going To Bed"

halloween playlists

Once again there was no show last night due to various life related issues...

It would have been scary Halloween playlist too, but every one of our shows is scary anyway so I don't really see the difference...

I have some Halloween mixes that I might make an effort to play over the air at some point if theres any time available on the WXCI schedule.

This band was just in the news for stopping traffic on the 101 in LA and playing this song. The videos of the stunt are boring because you can't hear this amazing music. Plus, the video itself is way more compelling. Like, what is that guitar dude doing? Is that Carlos Mencia? Is that snowboard phenom Shaun White? Why is that dude wearing that hat? How do they make it so there are 2 of the same person on screen simultaneously? This dear reader, is for us all to find out, or at least hope to one day be given the opportunity to learn.

Carlos Santana's still got it

If there was any doubt that Santana still had it in him to do what he does, or that million year old Clive Davis still could support an album that would be released commercially, or that Rob Thomas was still alive, here is proof of all three things. Make sure and get on top of this while its still fresh, or you will regret it when all your friends are like "OMG! DYHTNCSAFRTACC?" You don't want that to be you.

And this is important so that we can assign blame...I mean credit

and here's some heartthrob for you.

Anyway, this looks like the album of the year for us, and it's really been a great few weeks with the apparent leak of Ke$ha b-sides or something through youtube, unless they're copycat songs, which is still awesome.

9-20-10 playlist

Another triumphant show... We had some guests in the studio who made a brilliant announcement: "Hi this is Steve, and I'm Jon, and I'm Steve, and we're Ripoff, and we love WICC!!" It's moments like that where I really wish I would record this show more often.

Good playlist too, although I didn't realize The Cenobites' track contained so much profanity, which is strange considering I've played it over the air 2 or 3 times before.. and plus its youtube video has been posted somewhere on this blog. Sometimes the curse words don't even register as profanity for me... And that's why we're a Late Night show.

Oh, and P.S. ... WTF! Over the past week, TWO other shows have emerged on WXCI's schedule also using the phrase "Late Night!!" How 'bout some originality, kids? We already have the market cornered on late night shows, and I will be discussing this matter with our P.D. in due time. There's only room for one Late Night on WXCI. Now and forever!!

tonight's show

I feel bad, but tonight's show didn't happen.. It's a long story that can basically be attributed to the station doors still being locked. I was let in at 5:30PM and was unable to stay until 11PM... I was on the air tonight between 7PM and 8:30PM spinning rotation and mostly new stuff (new Arcade Fire, No Age, On Montreal, Holy Ghost, etc, etc), and after that point I realized I really needed to buy groceries or else I would starve for the rest of the week, and so I had to leave, knowing I would not be able to get back inside. I had a lot of music ready for Late Night Noise that I guess will have to wait until next week...

Thanks to Dave for finding some awesome shit to post here.. Keeping this blog alive means Late Night Noise will never die, even though our last live radio show was now 5 weeks ago. Great, now I'm bummed out.

Cosmic Hearse Does It Again!!!

go here and download this complete insanity. Its just so fucking ridiculously weird and awesome. I'm just listening to the first track. You'll go crazy.

you also may wanna check this out, but I haven't yet...so don't spoil it for me.

BORIS!!!!

I really want to see this band again before I die.

I will always remember the moment when, after they had filled up the Heirloom Arts Theater with fog, they hit the first note an all the fog moved away from the stage because of the sound.

srsly

P.S. Here's some "unsafe for work" Late night noise blog content... See how far you can make it through these 50 pics of topless Juggalettes chillin at this year's GOTJ... Personally, I was unable to make it past #20...

We might have a new 2G1C on our hands..

Andrew WK at Gathering of the Juggalos

In honor of last night's 3rd airing of our Andrew WK interview (for probably the last time ever) we found a special video for y'all...

This was my first viewing of a video from any Gathering of the Juggalos show.. it wasn't until traveling to the link itself that I realized this was posted in 2008, which means this didn't happen at this year's GOTJ, but rather it was probably 2 years ago.. this would make sense, since AWK just finished performing Warped Tour for the past 4 weeks.

The following video seems to confirm my suspicions.. It truly makes this look like the most piece of shit music festival of all time.. And after the recent news regarding Tila Tequila, I'm wondering if every performer aside from ICP ends up getting bottles and shit thrown at them. Many have suggested this was a huge trolling experiment... Who really knows.. Whether or not Andrew was sincere, I'd like to think he actually does respect ICP to an extent, or else he wouldn't have performed....

playlist 8-16-10

Still having station access issues... and plus I went to see Slayer tonight so I wouldn't have been there anyway. So for the third week in a row, it's time for an amazing rerun. I think we've almost completely run out of reruns...

It's a little late because I'm just now getting back from Slayer, but for anyone who cares, here's what's been played tonight... The show should be on for another 2 hours or so...

Tila Tequila Attacked at Gathering

Yeah, I guess that she got a buncha bottles thrown at her by a buncha juggalos and stuff. The CNN article reads pretty hilariously.

Also some pics of her wounds from TMZ. Thanks sleazeballs.

Probably what I like most about this is its entry into the mainstream press, and the mainstream press' inability to process what was actually going on out there in "rural Hardin County, Illinois."

Pretty sweet.

oh and in case you forgot.

TONIGHTS SHOW = UFCKING HUGE OMG

Sadly, we're still locked out of the station doors... But no big deal. Tonight we'll be playing another amazing "Best Of Late Night Noise" rerun!! Guess how amazing it will be?? Just guess...

#1 We'll be indulging into a tribute to the now incarcerated Lindsay Lohan (and this was from a show 2 weeks ago.. and she's still in jail as far as I can tell. So this is still regarding current events. We win.)

#2 We'll also be playing an excerpt from an I-Doser track.. I-Doser creates frequencies which are supposed to simulate the effects of certain drugs (such as caffeine, marijuana, LSD, etc etc..) Most of these are 30+ minutes long.. and around 11:50PM we'll be playing an excerpt from "Gates Of Hades," which is supposed to make the listener feel like they're entering the gates of hell. I got a little freaked out while listening..

#3 We'll also be featuring our exceptionally amazing song of the week: The Katy Perry/Ke$ha mashup "California Gurls Tik Tok." Are they really the same song? We'll find out on tonight's show.. as well as take a listen to some of Kylie Minogue's "Love At First Sight," a pop song from 8 years ago which both songs seem to suspiciously resemble.

Here are the approximate times the songs will be played, in case anyone cares...

10:25PM - 10:40PM
Beak> "Iron Acton"
M.I.A. "Teqkilla"
M.I.A. "Lovalot"

10:40PM - 11:00PM
Teenager "Alone On Acid" Available here
Ice Age "The Hole"
Birthdays & Cough Cool "Future Body"
The Black Keys "Next Girl"
J Church "Jennifer Jason Leigh"
EBN "TV Or Not TV"

11:00PM - 11:15PM (Lindsay Lohan tribute)
Babe Rainbow "I Can Try To Run (Stuck)"
Stalker "Disconnection (Disconnected)"
Oneohtrix Point Never "LL (Something I Never Had/Over)"
Lindsay Lohan "Over"

11:15PM - 11:30PM
Lascowiec (Track 7 from their demo, untitled)
Lascowiec (Track 3 from their demo, untitled)
Ocrilim (Track 7)

tonight's show is awesome

it's a rerun.... i figured anyone who actually travels to this blog probably doesn't while listening to the show, but in case anyone cares, tonight's show is a "rerun" from the april 26th show, because the building that the radio station is in, is still having issues with the locks on the doors and things of that nature... luckily i had time to prepare, and these are the songs that are playing on tonight's show!!

Beak> "Iron Acton"
Sonic Youth [bonus noise from the Experimental Jet Set LP]
Old Grandad "Medieval Weaponry Control And You"
Electric Wizard "Barbarian"
Beans "City Hawk"
Black Dice "Lazy TV"

Boris w/ Lecheo Derhara "Fuzzy Reactor"
Skull "Speed Metal"
Kana "Tora Boruta"
Luviathan "Shimmering With Horn Of Woe"
Spacemen 3 "The Sound Of Confusion"
Insayngel "A2"

At some point during the show we also listened to the commercial for "The Edge" which is a 3-Disc set of Monster Hits that has its commercial played during Adult Swim very often... and we did some commentary over it.

After the show ended, we played Rake's "Intelligence Agent" LP in its entirety which will also be played tonight!

all psychadelic n shit

one quick correction

What Dave (hopefully) meant to say in his previous post is that he will still be (potentially) contributing music to Late Night Noise, although he will not be speaking over the air nearly as often, as he will be hundreds of miles away. Nobody could ever replace Dave... however, if anyone wants to "fill in" they're more than welcome.. but I'm not expecting that to happen anytime soon. There will likely be way less banter and more focus on the music, which is totally cool with me, although the talking parts of the show will probably be less crazy.. We probably won't be doing the "exceptionally awesome song of the week" nearly as often.. or at least not with commentary, as I can't really do that by myself.

But since the talking portion of the show is less crazy, this gives more room for the music portion of the show to get crazier.... Stay tuned.

Step Up 3D

This is going to be the first ever dance movie in 3D. It's revolutionary, and I think that anyone who listened to Late Night Noise over the last year and a half or whatever it was will really love it. I'm glad that facebook suggested it to me.

Playlist for 7/26/10

This may be the last night of the show as it has existed for the last year or so. I am moving away next week and won't be able to contribute as I have enjoyed doing in the past.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT LATE NIGHT NOISE IS OVER!!!!

It especially does not mean that this blog will fall into dormancy and disrepair. The blog will be maintained and the show will live on. Stick around. I may even continue updating the twitter for our mass of followers.

The show tonight was rather wonderful. I came across something earlier today on the internet called I-doser which appears to be a website where you can buy sound files that are meant to induce drug symptoms such as euphoria and hallucinations through the use of frequency and tone or something. We played one tonight that was meant to make you feel as though you were standing at the Gates of Hades.

You can find these files pretty easily on mediafire...that's what I did.

You can also find videos of reactions to the experience on Youtube. You could go over there and check em out.

We also did a buncha other stuff. Hope you dug it, and you can bet it'll be rebroadcast at some point.

LNN 7/26/10

Stalker – Disconnection (Disconnected)

We made a 3 or 4 hour playlist so the fun wouldn't end till early in the morning. I don't remember what that consisted of, but you can bet it is fucking awesome.

See ya around.

New wierdo Fucked Up track

Year of the Ox is coming out soon. Apparently it has a B-side that is inspired by Twilight.

You can check the A-side out here. Pitchfork seems to have the exclusive stream.

Also came across this live video of them playing it on CBC or something. I didn't watch it yet, but maybe it's cool.

BrokenCyde Hoax

BrokenCyde was the target of an "elaborate" hoax saying they were stopped in thier tour bus and arrested for drug possession, child pornography, and (statutory) rape. It was
reported by many major news outlets as the truth. It turned out to be fake. Thank god.
More to come I hope.

I think that this is a good resource to read more on the subject.

it appears that the original fake TMZ website no longer exists. Too bad.

Lindsay Lohan Tribute

So I happened upon this today. In honor of Lindsay Lohan going to jail today (the poor thing) some record label that specializes in drag queen music has released a Lindsay Lohan tribute with songs of hers reworked by current artists, one of whom happens to be a fave around these parts - Oneohtrixpointnever. So you could download the jazz here

The importance of the vuvuzela in noise music

I didn't read this article. Look it over and leave me a summary in the contents. Thanks.

new news: pitchfork launches website that promotes the shit we were already playing

http://alteredzones.com/

classic shit from Black Dice

I keep finding myself coming back to that Eric Copeland video I posted here a few days ago.. and I'm pretty sure I love Black Dice more every time I hear them, and even more now that I've seen this video...

playlist 7-5-10

Tonight's show consisted of the following...

The album "Yes Sir, I Will" by Crass played in its entirety..

2 songs from Bongzilla's "Gateway" LP: track 8, "Hashdealer," and track 1, "Greenthumb"

And that entire mix from the Oneohtrix Point Never guy, which Dave posted here a few days ago...

I think that mix is still playing right now. It's nice. While in the studio alone tonight I was bored enough to quickly throw together a really horrible promo that I'm happy to say should now be playing in our automation computer every day or 2...

Here it is, in case anybody wants to hear what a completely terrible radio promo sounds like...

07 Track 7 by Late Night Noise 1

Will this week's show sound like this??

Playlist for 6/28/10

Wow, how fucking good is that jam Mike posted below. Jeez!
Anyway, here is the playlist from the show the other night. It had some pretty rad stuff going on, particularly that new OPN stuff I think. Check it out if you haven't already.

Following the show, we did play a dizzying array of black metal and adult contemporary music for our drive home. I imagine it was perplexing to the casual listener, but to us it was art. Hope you dug it hard.

get ready for boners

Dave has the playlist from last night's show which should be posted here soon... I don't think he has the playlist from our "post-show" thing (which is an automated hour of Late Night Noise music that plays after we leave) but last night's was pretty lulz..

We were influenced by the new album from Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti ... Pitchfork gave their new album a 9.0: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/14324-before-today/ .. which I find intriguing as it's highly influenced by Adult Contemporary Music from the late 70's and early 80's...

And so we played AM Gold gems from Kenny Rogers, America, Paul Davis and Dan Fogelberg separated by Late Night Noise mainstays such as Nunslaughter and Contortions.. You had to be there.

While we wait for last night's playlist plz feel free to have yourself a big ol' boner while watching this brilliance...

Lebdenden Toten

these folks are an awesome band from PDX (thats Portland Oregon in hip/FAA speak) They've been around for a few years, maybe more...I just got a couple EPs from them finally. Expect it on the show tonight.

Never as cool as Mike

I will never be as cool as Mike. I come in here thinking I have something cool to share with everyone, and I see that he posted something else that just BLOWS IT OUT OF THE WATER!!!

SHIT.

in any case, here's a neat video of MGMT covering the Clean on some radio station in Ohio. It's pretty sweet.

excellent new track from The Situation

It sounds like that one episode of Perfect Strangers when they had Balky do a rap video.

edit: WXCI IS AWESOME

That is all.

As for the noise.........

I heard some good things about the "No Balls" LP...

http://fashionableactivism.blogspot.com/2009/10/no-balls-7.html

And this made me very happy...

Monday, June 14, 2010

We're not gonna be here today

Because we are irresponsible losers who would rather revel in our own misery and that of others than treat you the listener to anything resembling entertainment.

We are doing this instead

You probably should too. Eyehategod with Nactmystium, Ipissimus, Iron Hand and some other band I can't remember playing at Daniel Street in Milford tonight. I think it starts at 7

We'll be back next week. Stay tuned for other important updates. For now, you should probably just get a twitter account and follow Hatebreed.

Also, another important update is that we have a twitter. Latenightnoise is our name on twitter. Follow us and learn what we are doing at any given moment of the day. Which is generally worshiping satan and doing hard drugs.

Cool Stuff on Pitchfork

Fanboy!!!!!

But seriously there is a cool interview with Blake Judd from Nachtmystium as well as a cool piece with Sun Araw. Worth checking out I think.

Playlist 6-7-10

Not to take away from the vitriol of Mike's post there, but here's some bookkeeping to take care of. We actually did a show on Monday night, and we got going with the noise late because Mike had to finish his Pitchfork's Top 100 of the 1980s (I don't particularly agree with 2 of the top 5) and then I wanted to do a pilot for my proposed new show Country Caravan so we played a buncha Country and Honkey Tonk and Alt Country. We got going around 12:15 or something. I don't remember. We discussed our trip to see BrokenCyde. I forget what else happened.

Here's what we played

Muster Up Violence 集団自殺 (Syudan Jisatsu or Mass Suicide)

Tim Buckley – The Healing Festival
Ata Kak – Obaa Sima
Hermann Kopp – Petrified/Fish
Om – Cremation Chant Ghat II
Combatwoundedveteran – Folded Space Lead Poisoning & Distortion
Spazz – Gummo Love Theme

Zaklon - Piesn Dazdzju
Wet Hair – Cult Electric Annihilation
The Men – Grave Desecration
Chris Watson – No Man's Land
Adam Michalak – First Color

Sleep - Dopesmoker

We'll not be on next week, cuz we'll be seein' Eyehategod at Daniel Street in Milford. You should go.

Sunday, June 6, 2010

UPDATE!!!! Nickleback Video

Very excited about this.

So this is coming out soon.

I also heard that there's a new Nickleback song about growing weed in your back yard. Can't wait to hear it.

I'll leave you with this

Its just one of those days
When you don't wanna wake up
Everything is fucked
Everybody sux
You don't really know why
But want justify
Rippin' someone's head off
No human contact
And if you interact
Your life is on contract
Your best bet is to stay away motherfucker
It's just one of those days!!

[chorus]
Its all about the he says she says bullshit
I think you better quit
Lettin' shit slip
Or you'll be leavin with a fat lip
Its all about the he says she says bullshit
I think you better quit talkin that shit
(Punk, so come and get it)
Its just one of those days
Feelin' like a freight train
First one to complain
Leaves with a blood stain
Damn right I'm a maniac
You better watch your back
Cuz I'm fuckin' up your program
And if your stuck up
You just lucked up
Next in line to get fucked up
Your best bet is to stay away motherfucker
Its just one of those days!!

[chorus]

I feel like shit
My suggestion is to keep your distance cuz right now im dangerous
We've all felt like shit
And been treated like shit
All those motherfuckers that want to step up
I hope you know I pack a chain saw
I'll skin your ass raw
And if my day keeps goin' this way I just might break somethin' tonight...
I hope you know I pack a chain saw
I'll skin your ass raw
And if my day keeps goin' this way I just might break somethin' tonight...
I hope you know I pack a chain saw
I'll skin your ass raw
And if my day keeps goin' this way I just might break your fuckin' face tonight!!
Give me somethin' to break
How bout your fuckin' face
I hope you know I pack a chain saw, what!!...

[chorus]
