In the days leading up to 91.7 Day and WXCI's big 50th anniversary weekend celebration, we figured there's no better time to do yet another "penultimate." Late Night Noise -- August 14, 2023 (Stuck indoors with Covid, Mixcloud hates this show)
Probably 2nd to last show on WXCI. "Penultimate" as the millennials like to say. (No one used this word before 2016. If you're thinking "I did," you're lying.) Unless we're on next week (8/21) for some reason, the final LNN (on WXCI) is in two weeks on 8/28.
Tonight, it's heavy on the experimental and weird (except I'm now looking at the tracklist and it's like the most normy classic rock show ever, but idk when you listen to it it sounds weirder than the tracklisting suggests).

LATE NIGHT NOISE IS BACK BABY -- June 19, 2023
The show is back for Summer 2023 with all new advenures. We'll be on every 2 weeks until the end of summer switching off with "Jumping In The Night!"
WXCI now has a Spinitron account which is usually about 70% accurate with its autotags. We figured out a while ago that it doesn't like to tag vinyl so nothing was tagged after 12:45AM.
Throughout the summer, we'll be digging through The Noise Arch Collection -- a giant pile of 465 cassettes uploaded to Archive.org with genres ranging from "tape experimentation, industrial, avant-garde, indy, rock, diy, subvertainment, auto-hypnotic materials", and stuff that "defies category," which is basically the kind of stuff we play on this show. We linked to stream/downloads of the 3 that we played tonight, and we'll find more for future shows this summer. (Again, none of these got tagged on Spinitron.)

It's gonna be great and/or good.
Yesterday we actually had a really good show and it's possible that 3 people heard it so that's cool. It was a remote show which means it took like 15 hours to do a 3 hour show. We would prefer to not do remote shows ever again. But it came out well, so yeah. And it'll be up on Mixcloud later today.

Life Sentence -- March 5, 2023
A week ago, I sat in for my first entire live radio show in over a year on WXCI's Life Sentence - a Sunday afternoon show with rotating hosts from WXCI's alumni. I really needed it and had a lot of fun playing a set of weird classic Late Night Noise jams (during the day). It's possible I might be back to do this a few more times throughout the Spring!
This was also the first Sunday afternoon shift since WXCI's 50th anniversary on 2/28/23, and so music from 1973 was featured throughout the show's 2nd hour. I didn't do a great job of announcing, which is what happens (to me anyway) after you haven't talked live on the air in over a year.

2022 Mixtape Streams + Late Night Noise Hiatus
Lots of news!!
Good news = Jumping in the Night w/ DJ Queeregeddon is now on WXCI Monday nights at 10PM! We're very psyched the timeslot went to such a great show!
Good news = In case you missed it or want to check it out again, both parts of the 2022 Mixtape show are now streaming on Mixcloud! Much like the last 4 or 5 of these, it was a giant pain to put together but sounded really good afterwards.
Not sure if this is bad news or good news = As mentioned throughout the 2022 Mixtape show, Late Night Noise has entered indefinite hiatus for the 2nd and probably final time. The first time was from Fall 2014 until Spring 2017, but this one feels more permanent than the other one. There's no planned send-off show, since the entire June 2021 to Sept 2022 run of shows felt like one giant prolonged finale. We didn't get to play "Farewell" by Boris, but it's posted below.
I moved to Brooklyn in March 2020 with no planned post-lockdown return. But then I unexpectedly found work in Danbury 5 minutes away from WXCI, conveniently aligning with the show's timeslot, and this signaled an opportunity to capitalize. Then I found work again, closer to where I live, which is too far away to keep up with Late Night Noise.
But I think we had a pretty good run. It was an honor filling WXCI's Monday night airspace with the weirdest stuff we could find. Thanks so much to anyone who ever listened for an hour or longer, and thanks to past and present WXCI PD's for letting it happen.
