last night's playlist, WASP videos, and other stuff

Next week's show is planned to be a pre-recorded tribute to Ween's Pure Guava which was released 20 years ago this week and is one of those albums that like totally changed my life n stuff. Except not being sarcastic, it kind of really did. So next week at 11PM it's gonna be a big Ween tribute.. We'll try and find some cool stuff for it.

Also Pure Guava's anniversary reminded me that it's definitely been a solid decade since I've started DJ'ing on WXCI. The official moment of celebration took place around 1:15AM... If you search down the playlist, you'll see Kenny Rogers' "Lady" placed between songs by Lord Hitler and Nunslaughter.

Also we would like to quickly embed two very important videos, both featuring one of the guys from WASP. The first one was posted onto Youtube just a few days ago. The one beneath is the same guy in the late-80's movie The Decline Of Western Civilization Part 2.

Okay, here's last night's playlist...

we ended up getting a lot of calls for this song, which i incorrectly thought was titled "Alone" ...

can't remember the last time we got so many calls for one song on late night noise... and of course I told the callers the incorrect song title and announced it over the air incorrectly... whatever.

Also we over the air mentioned that we would post the new video for "It's Time To Party" by Andrew WK and so here's that...

Aaliyah featuring Drake “Enough Said”
(Mandatory Sisqo is getting kinda old, and so instead we decided to bring back "the amazingly exceptional song of the week" feature... And it turns out this song isn't all that horrible, but in theory the idea just kinda bothers us... We ended up having a 10 minute conversation over the air regarding Aaliyah and Drake. HUGE NEWS: James Hetfield chooses his greatest songs of all time

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/hetfield_ozzy_pick_up_greatest_songs_of_all_time.html?no_takeover

01. "Free Bird" - Lynyrd Skynyrd. Nothing tops this workingman's ballad. 'Free Bird' fit my life for the first 20 years on the road not really getting too attached to stuff, living life for the moment and moving on.

02. "Stairway To Heaven" - Led Zeppelin. When I first got a guitar, I figured out the first couple of fingerings to this, and I ran around the house saying, 'Check it out I can play this!' My family was like, 'Where's the rest of the song?'

03. "Jailhouse Rock" - Elvis Presley. I remember seeing that video of him jumping around behind bars with all his buddies. It encapsulates rebellion, which is really just misguided creativity.

04. "Behind Blue Eyes" - The Who. This song had all that teen angst bubbling under it. It's about asking for help but not really wanting it. Reminds me a lot of me.

05. "Candle In The Wind" - Elton John. 'Saturday Night's All Right For Fighting' was more my style, but few songs can top this melody.

06. "God Only Knows" - The Beach Boys. I got on a Beach Boys kick again about six months ago. I gew up in Southern California; to me, this songs speaks to a higher power.

07. "Yesterday" - The Beatles. It instantly connected with me. It makes you think, but not too gard.

08. "Black Sabbath" - Black Sabbath. This song scared the shit out of me. It's beyond heavy.

09. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" - Nirvana. When all that Eighthies hair metal was getting overproduced, Nirvana came along with this thrashy garage sound and a huge hook. It was what music needed.

10. "The Boys Are Back In Town" - Thin Lizzy. Phil Lynott was never afraid to write from the heart, even if it was a little corny. Thin Lizy inspired a lot of Metallica's guitar harmonies.

Also cross off one more on the "radio bucket list..." We played Side A of Elvis Presley's "Havin' Fun With Elvis On Stage" LP, revered by countless sources as the worst album of all time. Here's the complete playlist...

Wum "Metal"
Beak> "Blagdon Lake (Live version)"

We also played the same LNN Post-Show as on April 4th.. the april 4th playlist hasn't been posted yet so we'll get around to that soon hopefully.

amber rose troll demos

http://www.streetbonersandtvcarnage.com/blog/amber-tamblyn-convinces-tyrese-gibson-shes-amber-rose/

I think it was in like 2007 that they shot "The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2" right here at good ol' Western Connecticut State University, so this actor whose name (partially) happens to be Amber Rose has been on our campus. A few days ago, she was contacted by Tyrese (the dude from Fast and the Furious and Usher's "My Way" video) about singing on R&B songs - wrongly thinking he was speaking to the Amber Rose who dated Kanye West - which resulted in some amazing troll-tastic "demos" that we unfortunately cannot play on the radio, but anyway...
